Purity & Laboratory Testing
Each lot is characterized for the attributes relevant to a sterile diluent rather than for the purity of an active compound:
- Composition — water for the dissolution/dilution of research materials, with benzyl alcohol (CAS 100-51-6) present at a nominal 0.9% (9 mg/mL); lot-specific values reported on the COA.
- Sterility — assessed per lot; sterility status reported on the COA.
- Endotoxin / pyrogen — nonpyrogenic preparation; lot-specific values reported on the COA.
- pH — nominal range approximately 4.5–7.0; lot-specific value reported on the COA.
- Identity of benzyl alcohol — confirmed by the methods listed on the lot COA.
The values above are analytical characterizations of composition, sterility, and identity only, and do not constitute any representation of fitness for a particular use. For research use only, not for human use.
Certificate of Analysis
A Certificate of Analysis is available per production lot, documenting HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity confirmation.
Research Background & Study Phase
For Research Use Only · Not for human or veterinary use · Not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
References to clinical phases/studies describe the compound in independent third-party literature (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed) and do not represent claims, testing, or approval by Zynix Biolab.
Bacteriostatic Water is not a peptide or a compound under investigation. It is a laboratory diluent: sterile water containing approximately 0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol (CAS 100-51-6) added as a bacteriostatic preservative. As such, it is a reagent rather than a research compound, and it is not associated with any clinical study phase, mechanism of action, or biological target.
The function of benzyl alcohol in this preparation is well characterized in the analytical and pharmacopeial literature: it acts bacteriostatically, inhibiting microbial proliferation in solution without functioning as a bactericide. This property is what allows a multiple-withdrawal container to be used for repeated reconstitution work under aseptic laboratory technique. The grade supplied here is provided strictly as a bench reagent for dissolving and diluting other lyophilized research materials.
Because this product is a diluent and not a test article, there is no associated study phase, no efficacy profile, and no therapeutic context of any kind.
Research Applications
For Research Use Only · Not for human or veterinary use · Not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
Bacteriostatic Water is supplied as a laboratory diluent for in-vitro and bench workflows, including:
- Reconstitution and dilution of lyophilized peptides and other research materials into working stock solutions for laboratory study.
- Preparation of multiple aliquots from a single multiple-withdrawal container under aseptic technique, where the benzyl alcohol preservative supports repeated reconstitution work.
- General buffer, dilution, and solubilization steps in research protocols that call for a preserved sterile-water diluent rather than a preservative-free one.
The applications above describe handling of this reagent in a laboratory setting and are provided for scientific context only. This product is not for human use, diagnostic use, or therapeutic use.
Handling, Storage & Reconstitution
Store sealed at controlled room temperature away from light unless the lot COA specifies otherwise; do not freeze the diluent. Inspect the solution for clarity and particulates before use and discard if cloudy or compromised.
For reconstitution of lyophilized research materials, draw the diluent under aseptic technique and direct it gently against the inner wall of the vial rather than directly onto the pellet; allow the material to dissolve without vigorous agitation. Lyophilized research compounds being reconstituted are typically held at −20°C; follow the COA for each specific material. Once a multiple-withdrawal container is entered, label, date, and store it per laboratory practice and the lot COA. Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, eye protection, lab coat) and handle in a designated laboratory area.
The guidance above describes laboratory bench handling of a reagent and is not a dosing or administration instruction. For research use only — not for human use.
