PT-141, known in the scientific literature as bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide structurally derived from α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It has been characterized in the literature as a non-selective melanocortin receptor (MCR) agonist, reported to activate several receptor subtypes including MC1R, MC3R and MC4R.
